Prince William County – 1790-1860 Driving Tour

The public is invited to join along this free tour titled: “Prince William County – 1790-1860” sponsored by Historic Prince William on Sunday, August 30, 2020 (new date) beginning at 1 pm from the parking lot of the Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre.

Attendees will follow along from point to point in their own vehicle and the tour will conclude by 5 pm. The Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre is located in Brentsville, Virginia. The address of the Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre parking lot is 12229 Bristow Rd, Bristow, VA.

We will discuss the many changes that occurred in Prince William County from the end of the Revolutionary War to the onset of the Civil War. As part of the tour we will discuss the many towns that developed, a shift of political power from the eastern to the western Prince William County, and discuss many of the leaders, regular citizens, and enslaved workforce of Prince William County during that time. We will also examine the mood of Prince William County citizens as the nation moved closer to the Civil War.

Come join us on Sunday, August 30, 2020 beginning at 1 pm starting at the parking lot of the Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre for a special guided tour titled: “Prince William County: 1790-1860”. The talks will all be outside making it easy to Social Distance. Donations to Historic Prince William is encouraged after the tour.
