Maymont Estate - Richmond, Virginia
Maymont is a Victorian estate on 100 acres completed in 1893 by Major James H. Dooley and his wife. After their death in 1925 they left the house and property to the city of Richmond for the people of Richmond. The park opened six months later.
The park is great, it has lots of animals, a Japanese garden and Italian garden. It's well worth a trip, in the spring is best. Take your walking shoes.

Swannanoa near Waynesboro, Virginia
Maymont was their winter house. Thier summer house was called Swannanoa. It too, was over the top, more so than Maymont.
